This genetic knowledge can be further utilized to improve understanding about the genes responsible for better productivity in the cattle. Genome projects utilize somatic cell genetics with in-situ hybridization and genetic mapping with molecular markers. Genome projects help to increase milk and meat production by creating the high milk producing and faster growing hybrid cattle. Genome projects help to improve the health by generating disease resistant and drought resistant cattle.
